Enrichment:
Global China Connection is an international organization that encourages social, cultural, business, and philanthropic exchanges. GCC offers multiple programs which provide opportunities for young people to learn the Chinese language and become more familiar with China's culture. Many students, especially those aspiring to live in and work in China after college/schooling, will benefit from the many opportunities to form connections with top organizations, businesses, and universities in China.
Official recognition:
Official recognition will not only spread the word about GCC across campus and the nation (and the world) and draw more interested students, but also the funds will help with creating campus events and organizing and planning abroad trips to China. Several networking conferences/meetings are held in Beijing, China, so support will be needed to allow student participation and representation from Rice.
Sustainability:
As required by GCC Central, we will organize at least 2 campus events, at least one which will be philanthropic (such as fundraising to donate all proceeds to a charity or sponsor a philanthropic organization), and at least one Education Symposium in which speakers will be invited to give informational discussions on the international relations between the Western world and China and the current state of China. Many students have great interest in exploring China and establishing networks and connections in China, so the abroad opportunities that GCC offers will help foster such interest.
Goals:
Global China Connection (GCC) is an international organization that aims to connect the Western world and China by providing opportunities for American students to travel, intern, volunteer, and study abroad in China. Students will also learn ways to establish networks and connections with this emerging world power.
