Enrichment:
Members will be given the opportunity to teach or learn their favorite game to a competitive level. Teams, requiring much cooperation and communication, will be formed for players to play and improve together.
Official recognition:
Although computer games can simply be played online, the goals of our club can be achieved much more thoroughly if we were able to establish meeting locations. Since e-sports is a spectator sport, we would like to expose this new genre of entertainment to the Rice community as well through live competition streams and shows.
Sustainability:
Consistent meetings and enthusiastic leaders will be all that is necessary to keep the games going. Continuous competitive opportunities will be available month after month for the members to participate in, as well as in-house LANs. We plan to host a vast and very organized tournament for the various games we will be implementing for all of Rice to attend and watch. For those interested in the competitive gaming scene, we hope to have consistent viewing parties (much like watching a football game).
Goals:
1. to engage the Rice community in the new scene of e-sports, a spectator sport;
2. to instruct and encourage students to game at a competitive level;
3. to introduce Rice representation into many competitive circles of the gaming community;
4. to promote a team building aspect into gaming as well as well-mannered association amongst players;
5. to have fun (most important)
