Revive an expired club

You're at the right place if you want information on how to revive a club whose registration has expired. If you wish to create a new club (one that has never been registered before), see the Create a club page. If you wish to renew the registration of a club that is currently registered, see the Renew a club page. Really reviving a club whose registration has expired? Read on.

Club Revivals of Clubs Last Registered Before Fall 2008: Your club is not in the Clubs Central system yet so THIS TIME ONLY you need to follow the instructions for creating a new club (NOT the revival instructions). Just complete all the steps for creating a new club. If you do not have the latest copy of your club's constitution to upload, contact SACT. Questions? Contact SACT.

The expired club revival process is managed through this website by the Office of Student Activities (SACT), the Student Association (SA) for undergraduate clubs, and the Graduate Student Association (GSA) for graduate student clubs. Clubs that have been previously registered through this website, but whose registration has expired can be revived through the following process:

  1. Club president reads Article VII and By-Law D of the Student Association Constitution and By-Laws (undergraduate) or By-Law C of the GSA By-Laws (graduate).
  2. Club president clicks the "Save and revive" button on the club's "edit page" (after ensuring that all information is correct, especially officer contact information). Club edit pages are accessible at My managed clubs for each of the clubs that you are currently the manager (president) of. If you are not the manager of the club you wish to revive (your club is not listed at My managed clubs), you or the current manager needs to contact the Office of Student Activities to be made the manager before you can revive your club's registration.
  3. Club president fills out the President's Form, prints it, signs it, and turns it into SACT.
  4. Club faculty/staff sponsor fills out the Sponsor's Form, prints it, signs it, and turns it into SACT.
  5. SA Parliamentarian (undergraduate) or GSA VP Internal Affairs (graduate) reviews club's constitution and schedules meeting with club president to discuss any changes needed.
  6. SA Parliamentarian or GSA VP Internal Affairs schedules club presentation to SA Senate or GSA Council.
  7. Club officer(s) give very brief presentation to SA Senate or GSA Council.
  8. SA Senate or GSA Council approve or deny club's revival. Not all clubs are approved. A club's officer(s) must be ready to answer questions at their presentation and argue for the organization's approval.
  9. Club president and club faculty/staff sponsor must attend a risk management training workshop before the club is considered registered. This can be done at any point in the club registration process.

As the club manager (president), you will receive an email each time your club completes a step in the revival process. You can also check the website (My managed clubs) for your club's registration status.

After being approved by the SA Senate or GSA Council and the club president and sponsor having attended risk management training, a club is afforded the benefits of a registered club. Clubs must renew their registration each year to retain those benefits.
